Broken Hill Historical Society is an incorporated not-for-profit organisation.

In 2023 the Society has approximately 70 members from Broken Hill and also from all over Australia, the latter often made up of formerly local people wanting to maintain their connection with Broken Hill.

Meetings

The Society holds a General Meeting on the second Monday of every month at 7.00 pm, except on public holidays, and in December and January. With the Covid 19 pandemic, there have been fewer general meetings, and this is likely to continue.

The Management Committee meetings currently take place during the day and on the Wednesday before a General Meeting. Days and times of the Management Committee meeting may vary depending on the needs of committee members.

Structure

The Society has two patrons, a core executive body, four museum coordinators and varying additional active positions.

All positions (except for patrons) are open for nomination or re-nomination to the Society’s Annual General Meeting (AGM)/ the Society Committee every year. The AGM is held on the second Monday of every March at 7.00 pm.
