Broken Hill Historical Society is an incorporated not-for-profit organisation.
In 2021 the Society has approximately 70 members from Broken Hill and also from all over Australia, the latter often made up of formerly local people wanting to maintain their connection with Broken Hill.
The Society holds a General Meeting on the second Monday of every month at 7.30 pm, except in December and January.
The Management Committee meetings currently take place on the Monday evening of the General Meeting and beginning at 6pm. Days and times of the Management Committee meeting may vary depending on the needs of committee members.

The Society has two patrons, a core executive body, four museum coordinators and a range of other active positions.
All positions (except for patrons) are open for nomination or re-nomination to the Society’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) every year. The AGM is held on the second Monday of every March at 7.30 pm.
